Karina Louise: www.KarinaLouise.com
Born and raised in Saskatoon, Canada. Beginning age 6, Karina competed regularly in racquetball tournaments, winning several junior National and World titles. She continued competing into her adult life, playing on the Canadian National team for 5 years before retiring from the sport at age 21. Also at 21, she finished her Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting, at the University of Saskatchewan. For 3 years, Karina worked as an accountant/CFO at a computer consulting firm, before meeting Rolf and adopting a life of continuous movement and change, during which she has discovered a passion for photography. Love and freedom seem to agree with her, as she is blossoming in every imaginable way. She is six feet tall. She loves dancing, being in nature, hot baths and having her back touched. - Rolf

 Rolf Gibbs: www.RolfGibbs.com
Born in England, the youngest of 5 children. Rolf grew up in Indonesia (in a spiritual community called Subud), New Zealand, and in the UK. Rolf moved to Paris and became a fashion photographer for Vogue magazine at the age of 18. He spent 7 years in Berlin, during the fall of the wall before moving to New York to study Graduate Film at NYU. He won numerous international awards for his short films. Relocating to Los Angeles, he wondered what to do next. After traveling extensively in Africa and India, he began living on the road in California, in a magic little Toyota motorhome called “The Womb.” Here he discovered meditation and ecstatic dance as awareness practices. Photography has become his way of focusing on the beauty that surrounds him. His life experience is becoming increasingly full of wonder and enjoyment.
He loves hiking the Sierra mountains, driving, dancing, and strawberries with vanilla ice cream. - Karinahttp://www.RolfGibbs.comshapeimage_10_link_0
Rolf + Karina:
In March 2006, Karina was on a travel-break from work, and Rolf was already living and traveling in the Womb. They met at the Esalen Institute, a retreat center in Big Sur, California (www.esalen.org), where, along with 40 others, they were enrolled in a month-long work/study program. Rolf worked in the vegetable garden, while Karina did housekeeping, and they both participated in the daily Vision Painting workshops. One day, as they were watching the sunset from one of the hot tubs on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific ocean, their naked hips touched underwater -- ever so slightly -- and neither one pulled away. Daily meetings at sunset at the tubs became tradition, and they decided to create a relationship together -- one dedicated to awakening consciousness and personal freedom. At the end of the month, Karina went back to Saskatoon to quit her job, and Rolf followed to meet her family. Within a few weeks of meeting, they were traveling together in Europe and the Himalayas, with no return tickets booked. They have been together ever since, creating an almost uninterrupted field, 24 hours a day, while traveling internationally. Their blog begins as the two leave Hawaii to live on the road again, while creating a book of photographs about the intimacy and beauty of their experience together. Inspired by their own experiences, they offer Transformational Photography as a powerful process to stimulate awareness and growth in others. Their journey together ended in March of 2010, exactly four years after it began. http://www.esalen.orgshapeimage_11_link_0
